Budget'18: Delhi Police gets allocation of over Rs. 7,000 crore
In the Union Budget 2018-19 announced on Thursday, the Delhi Police has been allocated Rs. 7,426 crore for the next fiscal year, that shows an increase of Rs. 1,048 crore over the current year. Out of the total allotted amount, Rs. 19 crore has been given for women's safety under the Nirbhaya Fund and Rs. 460 crore is given for infrastructure improvement. Here's more.
Delhi Police plans to build separate unit for women, kids
The police force was allocated Rs. 6,378 crore in the previous budget. According to a report, the Delhi police is now planning to build a separate building for the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) in Nanakpura with the new allocated amount. It also plans to improve the technology used in the investigation of cyber crimes and financial frauds.
SPUWAC will be built in two years: Police
According to police officials, the estimated cost of building the SPUWAC will be around Rs. 23 crore. A tender will be released on February 5 and the construction will be completed in two years. Special Commissioner of Police (SPUWAC) Sanjay Beniwal said, "Revamping the Himmat app and improving last-mile connectivity, especially for women commuters, will also be done in the coming months."
