Delhi Metro Pink Line to be a shopper's favorite
Two major sections of Delhi Metro Pink Line will be inaugurated in just two months. While the first will connect South Campus to Lajpat Nagar, the second one will be between Shiv Vihar (NE-Delhi) and Trilokpuri (East-Delhi). The first section is bound to be a shopper's favorite, as it will meander through major markets like Sarojini Nagar, INA, South Extension and Lajpat Nagar.
After June, Lajpat Nagar will be major interchange station
Currently, Lajpat Nagar is connected to the metro network via Violet Line (Kashmere Gate-Escorts Mujesar). After the Pink Line opens up, it'll be an interchange station for commuters from West-Delhi (Shakarpur, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden and Mayapuri) and North-Delhi (Majlis Park, Azadpur, Shalimar Bagh, Keshav Puram and Netaji Subhash Place). Even Faridabad, Central-Delhi and Old-Delhi will get connected to Lajpat Nagar after June.
Trilokpuri section to have four interchange stations
The second section of the Pink line between Shiv Vihar and Trilokpuri will connect NE and East-Delhi. This section will have four interchange stations at Welcome, Karkardooma, Anand Vihar and Mayur Vihar Phase-I. Mangu Singh, DMRC MD said that signaling for Lajpat Nagar section will start soon, while it's done for Trilokpuri section. "We intend to open both sections by June," he wrapped up.
Country's longest metro line to have 1.5km missing link
The section of Majlis Park till Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus, opened in March, is part of a 58.9-km "ring corridor", which will be the country's longest metro line after June. However, there will be a permanent missing link between Mayur Vihar Pocket-I and Trilokpuri.
