Kejriwal seeks Delhi L-G's nod to penalize power discoms
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal seeks to get L-G Anil Baijal's approval today in order to revive his proposal of penalizing power discoms in the wake of power outage situation across Delhi. 3 Delhi cops harass a couple, suspended from service
Three cops were suspended for allegedly harassing a couple and extorting money from them. The couple was in a car parked near Buddha Garden when the cops approached them and extorted Rs 10,000 by threatening to prosecute them for engaging in obscene acts. The incident came to light when the couple reported the incident to senior officers. An inquiry has been initiated against them.
Delhi University gives 15% leeway in cutoffs to ECA students
Students who got a low score still have a shot at admissions to Delhi University provided they belong ECA category. DU colleges have decided to give 15% leeway in cutoffs to ECA students with the intention of pooling in talent for their societies. ECA applicants will have to upload relevant certificate in order to be eligible for the quota and be called for trials.
Noida: Drunk man tries to kill wife and son, absconding
A 45-year-old Noida based man stabbed his wife and son when she confronted him on his daily habit of drinking. The doctors have, however, pronounced them safe. According to police, Mohinder in a fit of rage started beating her up first. His son tried to stop him but he was beaten-up too. Mohinder is absconding and an attempt to murder case has been registered.
Manish Sisodia orders officer's removal for 'dereliction of duty'
Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia ordered removal of director of information and publicity Jayadev Sarangi for withholding Facebook Live session on GST with traders. In a letter to chief secretary MM Kutty, he asked for him to be replaced with an officer who can carry out the requisite duties with effectiveness. Sisodia also cited two other instances where Sarangi failed to execute his work.
IT minister: Noida to become 'Singapore'
Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said Noida and Greater Noida will emerge as the hubs of electronics manufacturing. "Noida and Greater Noida have the potential to become a Singapore soon in terms of manufacturing of electronics products", said Prasad. Noida is home to 600 IT units and smartphone makers. Smartphone makers Oppo and Lava have their manufacturing units established here.
