Delhi: Father-son held for raping adopted minor
The Delhi police have arrested a 37-year-old man and his father for allegedly raping a minor girl, whom he adopted two years ago. An FIR has been registered against them. According to the police, the two were arrested after her biological parents lodged a complaint. The girl, who is not even 10-year-old, was adopted by her aunt, as she could not have children.
Girl alleged 37-year-old started raping her on December 20
In a statement, a senior police official told, "Last year, the aunt died. Since then, her husband was looking after the girl along with his father, who is in his 50s." "The girl has alleged that the 37-year-old started raping her on December 20 last year. A few days later, the older man also allegedly raped her," the official added.
Her medical examination confirmed rape, says police
As per reports, the incident came to light after the girl's biological mother insisted on meeting her and taking her home. The girl later narrated about her ordeal to her and the parents decided to reach out to the police. According to police, "Her medical examination confirmed rape." The girl was adopted by the biological mother's sister as she couldn't bear any children.
Accused sent to 14-day judicial custody
The two also allegedly used to beat her, when she objected, and threatened that they would kill her parents and three siblings. "Sometimes, the accused didn't give her food and kept her confined. They didn't allow her to talk to her parents or anybody else," police added. On Monday, the accused were produced before a court and have been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
