Madhuri was found in an unconscious state
On 13 June, Madhuri was found unconscious - left to die at a construction site. Delhi Police said she was beaten with bricks. Workers at the site saw the victim and informed the police. She was admitted to Delhi's Batra Hospital for treatment.
Ravi tried to kill Madhuri only two days after marriage
Madhuri Chand had come out of the coma after two months, in August. However, she was unable to identify her attacker due to memory loss and had no idea how she reached the construction site, where she was found. On 8 Oct, she regained memory and said her husband tried to kill her on the second day after their marriage.
A case of attempt to murder was registered: DCP Baaniya
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Romil Baaniya stated: "After two months of efforts, doctors finally succeeded and Madhuri regained her memory. Her statement was recorded, and she accused Ravi Singh, alias Tinku (her husband), of attacking her."
Victim brought to Delhi under pretext of getting her job
Ravi married Madhuri under his parents' pressure. He brought her to Delhi from their village in UP, promising to get her a job. He took to a secluded area and thrashed her with rods and fled after she became unconscious. He confessed to police that he was in a relationship with another woman and wanted his wife out of the way.
