Delhi: Man murders wife on her birthday,2-year-old son sole witness
This Delhi woman wasn't expecting a 'gift' like this on her birthday. A 34-year-old man was arrested yesterday for stabbing his wife over 12 times, thus killing her, on Tuesday, her birthday. Sadly, the whole act was witnessed by their two-year-old son. The accused apparently told cops he killed his wife to put an end to their regular fights.
He was nabbed when he returned to pack his clothes
On Tuesday too, the couple had a fight over a trivial issue after which an inebriated Rajesh Chauhan picked up a kitchen knife and attacked her. A heavily-bleeding 30-year-old Renu ran out towards her neighbors for help, who rushed her to a nearby hospital. In the meantime, Rajesh fled. He returned some hours later to pack his clothes and that's when he was nabbed.
Renu's family claims Rajesh was alcoholic, abused her regularly
Her family members claimed Rajesh was an alcoholic and abused Renu almost every day. He also demanded money from her to run the household, which was supplemented by her father too. In fact, when their son was born, Renu's father took care of all expenses, said her brother Rakesh. The duo got married in 2014, after they met through a family friend.
She had complained to the women's cell in Chandigarh
Rakesh further said that the Chauhans shifted from Chandigarh to Delhi two years ago when Rajesh got a job. Unable to tolerate any more abuses, Renu had filed a complaint against her husband with the women's cell in Chandigarh earlier this year.
Rajesh claimed he was five-star hotel chef, was actually assistant
DCP (South) Romil Baaniya said Rajesh was arrested from their rented room in Khanpur around 12.30PM and faces murder and dowry charges. An SDM enquiry has been initiated. Initially he claimed he's a five-star hotel chef in Mahipalpur, but investigation revealed he was the chef's assistant. Renu's body was handed over to her family and her son has been sent to a relative's house.
