Delhi: Head-on collision of cars kills two of family
A man and his son died while returning from a relative's wedding after the Maruti Celerio car they were traveling in had a head-on collision with a Mahindra XUV in Southeast Delhi's Jaitpur area on late Tuesday night. According to police, the 55-year-old man was identified as one Trilok Nath and his son Vikas Tiwari was 21-year-old.
Deceased victims were declared brought dead by doctors
Police said that the victims were taken to Apollo Hospital after the accident but they were declared brought dead by doctors. Apart from the deceased duo, seven other people have been injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment currently. The wreckage of the vehicles was found by an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) patrolling the area near the Agra Canal road at 12:00 am.
No arrests have been made so far: Police
Police further said that the injured victims are being treated at RML Hospital as the postmortem reports of the duo are awaited. As per reports, no arrests have been made so far as the two occupants of the Mahindra XUV were also injured and undergoing treatment at a local hospital. DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said, "Their statements are yet to be recorded."
A case of rash driving has been registered
The deceased man's wife Nanda Tiwari said, "I was in a bus while my family was in the car." Police said, "The other passengers of the car were Vikas's friends Sachin and Shubhash, and his siblings Neha and Abhay." A case under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) and 304A (death by negligence) have been registered.
