Delhi: Youth killed 7-year-old for resisting sodomy, arrested
A 21-year-old was recently arrested for abducting and sodomizing his seven-year-old neighbor in Delhi's Okhla Industrial area. He said that when the child started crying in pain during the sexual assault, he strangled him and dumped the body in a canal. He then fled to his brother-in-law's house in Noida and kept tabs through news channels if the body was found.
Accused known to the boy's family, treated him like kin
The accused, Sandeep Singh, was known to the boy's family. On April 2, the child's parents filed a kidnapping case after he went missing. Since he was last seen with Sandeep, cops were on his trail. Sandeep, after the incident, was constantly on the run and switched off his phone after a while, due to which it got difficult to trace him.
Announcements were made using loudspeakers to trace Sandeep
Cops made announcements from rickshaws and temples after which he was arrested from Noida. Sandeep confessed to the crime and took cops to Ganda Nala, where the boy's decomposed body was found, with eyes and some organs missing. After autopsy confirmed murder, relevant sections of POCSO act and IPC were added to the FIR. Sandeep has been remanded to judicial custody till April 19.
Troubled past: Sandeep spent time in juvenile home for rape
Meanwhile, a crowd of 50, including the child's kin staged a protest on Mathura Road, alleging that there is another person involved. DCP (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal dismissed it, adding that Sandeep was arrested five years ago for raping a girl in Okhla. He was a juvenile then and so he spent few months at a juvenile reform home and also underwent counseling.
'My son played with him all the time'
"He called me his sister and visited our home daily. He was just like any other family member. My son played with him all the time. I never imagined that he would turn into a beast and kill my son," said the inconsolable mother.
