South Delhi eatery attacked by 'employees' miffed with owner
A group of 25 boys barged into a restaurant in Delhi's Kalkaji on Saturday and started vandalizing it. Armed with rods, they started breaking glasses and smashing chairs. Some of the miscreants were delivery boys employed with the hotel, said reports. They were apparently miffed with their employer, whom they suspected to have complained to police about them parking their bikes wrongly.
CCTV footage captures the violence
More than 30 patrons were inside restaurant when attack started
The incident took place in 'Dilli 19', a food joint based in Kalkaji. The restaurant owner, Rohit, said the boys barged into the premises around 11.30PM, when there were still around 30 customers inside the restaurant. The women and children were helped by the staff to escape through the kitchen door when the attack started, he added.
The boys thought their employer was hands-in-glove with police officers
Detailing the sequence of events, Rohit said some of these boys had come to pick up food for home-delivery around 7PM. They had parked their bikes in such a manner that it was aggravating the already heavy traffic jam. So the beat officer intervened and reprimanded the boys, which led to an argument. In the end, the officer ordered them to leave the spot.
Case registered, no arrest yet, said cops
They followed orders and left, but came back with other friends. The group then started vandalizing and created an atmosphere of panic. They also cornered the manager and abused him. A case has been registered but no one has been arrested.
