Rain, cold marr R-Day celebrations in NCR
Delhi had its wettest January day this century with 23mm of rain. Temperatures dropped in Gurugram too, to 16°C. Sex ring unearthed in Greater Noida
Police arrested five for luring poor girls with academic allures, but selling them off in Rajasthan and Haryana instead. Three sisters were rescued. The ring was discovered after the girls' father couldn't locate them in the address given by the "wealthy" man, who had promised them education. The girls had been sold off and asked to run away after their wedding to their 'customers'.

Communal tension in Ghaziabad locality
A murder got a communal hue after attackers from another community stabbed to death Singhasan Yadav, a trader in Shaheed Nagar, in his sleep. Police were heavily deployed on January 26. Yadav allegedly had an altercation with his murderers after they made indecent remarks against his family. Members of Hindu Raksha Dal also reached the Yadav house in protest.
Gurugram Municipal Corporation to repair all broken roads by June
The MCG will start maintenance work by February 15. Earlier, it had planned to finish repairs by December 2016. "The schedule of work will be uploaded on our website so that residents know exactly where and when the repair work will be carried out," said MCG commissioner V Umashankar. MCG authorities have faced backlash for delaying the work with irrational excuses.
Online petition against CP pedestrianization
The NDMC plans to start a pedestrianization drive at Connaught Place from February, where people will park their vehicles at sites outside the area and then take an electric vehicle towards Inner. However, traders have launched a petition on change.org, saying, "This [pedestrianization] will not only drop the economic activity in the area but will also result in job losses in huge numbers."
