The victim hopes to be fourth-time lucky, too
The victim, Deepak Pandoi, a 50-year-old textile dyer and finisher, who found his cars back on all three occasions, is now expecting to be fourth-time lucky. The first three cars stolen were two golden-beige Honda City sedans and he still drives one of those cars. According to DCP Chinmoy Biswal, the three thefts were committed in the same neighborhood in Lajpat Nagar's G block.
The first car theft happened on December 16, 2014
The businessman said that the first car theft happened on December 16, 2014. He said, "My car cleaner rang the doorbell to say that my car was missing from its regular parking space. I immediately called the police." However, he added that after almost a week, his former driver called and informed that the car was parked at an isolated spot in Greater Kailash.
He registered cases, waited and prayed to get lucky
The second theft happened just four months later and he registered a case. Around 10 days later, he received a call saying the car was abandoned by the thief outside Peeragarhi police station. After the third car went missing on February 8, 2016, Pandoi decided to claim insurance after getting an FIR registered. However, the car was found after 90 days of the theft.
Fourth car got stolen from gym parking
The day his fourth car got stolen, he parked it outside a gym and deposited the car keys at the reception. He said, "The thief tricked the receptionist, took the key, and drove away."
