Delhi: Aurangzeb Lane renamed after APJ Abdul Kalam
The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has officially renamed Aurangzeb Lane in Lutyens' Delhi as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lane, reported NDTV. Earlier, the NDMC changed the name of Aurangzeb Road to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road in 2015. The Aurangzeb Lane connects the Abdul Kalam Road with the Prithvi Raj Road.
NDMC's official statement on lane's renaming
In its statement, NDMC said, "An agenda item was placed before the council to consider renaming 'Aurangzeb Lane' under the NDMC area as 'Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lane.'" "The Council has approved the renaming...To respect the sentiments of people, the need to recognize and honor great men and women of our times, roads/ streets/ institutions have been renamed in the past," it added.
