Delhi: Fake policeman thrashes shop owner for refusing 'free' product
A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly posing as a police officer and thrashing a shop owner. The accused, Deepak Choudhary alias Deepak Maan, is a resident of Chattarpur Enclave. According to the victim's brother, who tweeted about the incident, Deepak hit his brother when he denied to give him a product for free when the man claimed he was in Delhi Police.
Vicitm's brother submitted video footage of incident to police
The incident came to light when Sagar Khera, a resident of Madangiri, filed a complaint that one person claiming to be a sub-inspector at Malviya Nagar police station came to his shop at around 8:45pm on Sunday and started beating him for denying free product. Sagar's brother Apaar Khera gave Deepak's contact number to police and also provided the video footage of the incident.

Accused was a property dealer, not police official
It was later found that Deepak was a property dealer and not a police official. Initially, Deepak didn't respond to police's calls. Yesterday, he was contacted and brought to the police station where the complainants were also present. Sagar, Apaar, and their father identified Deepak. Deepak admitted he knew Apaar since 2013 and was in contact with him for online purchase of mobile phones.
Deepak had earlier purchased T-shirts from victim's shop with discount
Earlier, Deepak had visited Sagar's shop in August and purchased some T-shirts from his shop and got some discount saying that he was an SI posted in Malviya Nagar. An FIR was registered against Deepak following which he was arrested.
