Using Metro cards in buses? You'll now get 10% discount
What's the story
If all goes well, you might get a 10% discount if you use the common mobility card in Delhi buses. This scheme will encompass all state government-run buses.
However, it'll take a month's time, said transport minister Kailash Gahlot.
Notably, this is an effort to encourage more passengers to use the card, which was launched on August 25.

The common mobility card is basically the Metro cards, which one can use for paying their bus tickets. The move was received well as it helped a whopping 30L passengers who use the 3,882 buses run by DTC, DIMTS and DMRC on a daily basis.

"Discount will be applicable on all rides within city limits"
Officials said the proposal about the discount scheme will be placed before the Cabinet within a week.
"Once approved by the Cabinet, it is going to benefit a large section of the city population which is primarily dependent on public buses for their daily commute. The discount will be applicable on all rides within the city limits," said a senior officer.

Rs. 5 flat in non-AC DTC, cluster, alters in others
Of the 3,882 buses plying in Delhi, 2,506 are low-floor non-AC buses, 1,275 are low-floor AC buses and 101 green standard floor buses. Additionally, there are 1,672 cluster (orange) buses that are running around the city.
In terms of fare, for travel up to 5kms, it's Rs. 5 in non-AC DTC and cluster buses. For other non-AC buses, it's Rs. 5, 10 and 15.

In AC buses, which are used only by 10-15% of commuters in the city, it's between Rs. 10 and Rs. 25. A report by Centre for Science and Environment said nearly 34% of city commuters depend on non-AC bus services.
