Ghaziabad: Video of government school children preparing food goes viral
A shocking video of students from a primary government school in Ghaziabad, preparing food in the school kitchen, has gone viral and is being shared on social media. The school in Vikas Nagar, Loni, came under the scanner of the district officials after the video reached them. The video reportedly shows students engaged in preparing the midday meal along with a woman. Here's more.
Video shows two children kneading wheat dough for midday meal
Indu Prakash Singh, subdivisional magistrate of Loni, said that the local residents went to them with the video, where two children are seen helping the woman by kneading wheat dough for the midday meal. He said, "The locals came to us with the video around 3 pm on Saturday and, by then, the school had already closed."
Inspection will be carried out with help of education department
The subdivisional magistrate said, "It is alleged that one of the rooms of the school was being used as a washroom and students were asked to fetch water to get the room cleaned." He added, "I will conduct an inquiry into these issues and the revelations made in the video. An inspection will be carried out with the help of basic education department officials."
Students also made to clean school premises: Locals
The local residents also alleged that the students are being engaged in cleaning the school premises and teachers don't look into these issues. A local resident said, "The students are engaged in preparing food and are also made to clean utensils. We complained to the school staff but they paid no attention to the problems we raised."
Principal will he held responsible if any laxity found: Official
The basic education department has initiated an inquiry and sought a report on the matter. Vinay Kumar, an official said, "I have directed the block education officer to visit the school and conduct a comprehensive inquiry into all allegations and irregularities." "If any laxity found, the principal of the school will be held responsible and action will be initiated," he said.
