Rouse Avenue gets Delhi's first 'model government school'
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, which is equipped with state-of-art facilities: audio-visual aids, water purifiers and more. Under project 'Chunauti 2018', the AAP government has planned 53 more schools with better amenities, including improved infrastructure and efficient education. "This convenience is just a foundation of education, not the ultimate goal. It's the quality of education that matters more," Sisodia said.
Newborn dead, four ill at LN Hospital after 'wrong' antibiotics
Five newborns were allegedly administered the wrong dosage of antibiotics on January 22 at Lok Nayak Hospital, sources said. One is still on ventilator support. The babies developed breathing problems and turned blue due to lack of oxygen soon after the medicines were administered. However, the medical superintendent has attributed the baby's death to an infection. Further investigation is ongoing.
Kejriwal, kin under investigation for alleged corruption
Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing has launched an inquiry against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his brother-in-law Surendra Kumar Bansal for alleged fraud in rewarding construction contracts. Bansal operates the firm Renu Constructions. Former Shalimar Bagh PWD official P.K. Kathuria is also under investigation. The development comes days after 'Roads Anti-Corruption Organization' moved to court when it failed to register a police complaint.
Hackers dupe firm of Rs 1 crore in digital theft
Three alleged hackers, led by Sunny Nehra, have been arrested for shoplifting vouchers from e-commerce websites. Gyftr.com approached Hauz Khas police on December 30. The hackers had tied up with peers in Netherlands and Indonesia, and used hi-tech devices including laptops with 256 GB RAM. Police tracked Nehra to a five-star Gurgaon hotel today. Cyber crime police said digital fraud has spiked after demonetization.
Delhi government takes stock of traffic woes
The AAP government has formed six taskforces - east, west, north, south, central and outer - to analyze the abysmal traffic conditions and offer solutions. Each will be headed by the respective traffic DCPs. The teams consist of people from NHAI, PWD, DDA, transport department and others. They have to submit their reports by February 23. The panels will also look into unauthorized parking.
