3-D printed vertebrae implanted in first such surgery in India
Doctors at Gurugram's Medanta-The Medicity successfully implanted a 3D-printed vertebrae in a 32-year-old woman with disabling spinal tuberculosis, helping her walk again. The 10-hour surgery was the first in India and the third globally. A complex computer software was used to plan every detail of the operation. Taxi strike enters Day 7, no respite in sight
A stalemate between Uber and Ola and protesting drivers loomed large on Day 7 of their strike as neither party seemed willing to compromise. Talks initiated by the government also broke through after Rajdhani Tourist Drivers' Union backed out. Sarvodaya Drivers Association has threatened disruption of all transportation if demands are not met. Meanwhile, auto-drivers are charging exorbitant rates in the absence of cabs.

After two collapses in CP, structures in other lively spots have come under scrutiny. In Khan Market, 44 of 74 residential flats have been transformed to restaurants, while others lay shuttered. Narrow staircases have worsened the situation. With additional floors being added, safety of many Hauz Khas Village buildings have been compromised. Rs 3,000cr land scam in Gurugram's Gwalpahari?
Conflicting orders of officials and "special interest" displayed by the Haryana government is hinting at a Rs 3,000cr scam in Gurugram, regarding ownership of 464 acres of land in Gwalpahari. Many VIPs own farmhouses in the disputed land, which had come under MCG's control in 2010. Amid mutation of several land deals, many officials overturned legal orders to shift ownership from residents to realtors/developers.
Office of Noida firm sealed over alleged Rs 500cr scam
The Noida Sector 2 office of Webwork Trade Links Pvt Limited was sealed over an alleged Rs 500-crore scam through a click-and-earn scheme. Addresses of its directors, Anurag Garg and Sandesh Verma, and some senior officials were retrieved. Active numbers of Garg and Verma, who are reportedly in hiding, have been put under surveillance. The company says it has suspended operations till April 20.
Giant air purifiers planned in Gurugram, Faridabad
The Haryana government is reportedly planning to install two giant air purifies, designed by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde, in Gurugram and Faridabad. Each movable 'smog free tower' will cost Rs 1.5-2 crore. Haryana's Industry and Environment Minister Vipul Goel is set to soon visit Beijing, which inspired the idea. However, most residents agree one purifier won't improve the situation in Gurugram.
Infosys likely to launch Noida headquarter in two years
Infosys submitted a revised layout plan for its Noida campus. After approval, it will control its northern operations from the 28-acre plot, its largest regional premises, in another two years. Rs 2,500 crore of a total Rs 5,000 crore will be invested in the first phase. Infosys spent Rs 1,354 crore to acquire 1.11 lakh sq m of land in Sector 85.
