Shoulders collided, argument ensued and then there was a murder - that's how the stabbing of a 35-year-old cook that happened on March 4 in Delhi's Alaknanda region can be described. The deceased, Dashrath Mukhiya was stabbed in his chest twice and killed by Sunny, alias Peeri, a 21-year-old e-rickshaw driver and a 17-year-old boy. Both of them were held yesterday, cops said.

An argument started between the two sides late on Sunday night after Mukhiya's shoulder collided with the minor's. In the heat of the moment, they stabbed Mukhiya twice in his chest, who collapsed before he could be taken to a hospital, police officers added. They intended to stab him more, but stopped when they saw him approaching a security guard of an apartment building.
Focus was on petty criminals of Govindpuri slum: Cops
The suspects' faces were caught by the CCTV camera but due to poor lighting, cops could not make out, said Romil Baaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South). He further said that their focus was on petty criminals of the slums in Govindpuri and Tughlaqabad Extension, since the incident took place there. However, robbery was ruled out as Mukhiya's mobile and money were intact.
The two shared about their act with an ice-cream vendor
"We interrogated around 100 suspects between 18 and 21 years. One of them told that the two had come to his ice-cream shop on that night and had shared that they had stabbed someone," said Baaniya. They visited their houses but they were missing. "We asked about their hideouts and nabbed them," said Baaniya, adding they have recovered the knife used for the crime.
