95 swine flu cases reported in Delhi till September 30
A report by the Health Ministry, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), revealed that 95 swine flu cases have been reported in Delhi till September 30. While the report shows only one death, there were three more suspected H1N1 deaths reported in Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida. Notably, there were 2,835 cases and 16 deaths in 2017 in Delhi as against 193 cases and seven deaths in 2016.
Isolated wards have been allotted due to increased cases
As per the reports, the surge in H1N1 cases has caused several hospitals to build new isolation wards. "We are prepared for the worst. All medicines, IVs are in stock and isolation wards and ICUs are available, too," said Dr. VK Tiwari, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
Delhi Government's advisory to prevent swine flu
Due to the increased number of cases in 2017, the Delhi government had issued a health advisory in January to prevent H1N1 flu, also called swine flu. According to the advisory, the symptoms of H1N1 are fever and cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and difficulty in breathing. Other symptoms include body aches, headache, fatigue, chills, diarrhea and vomiting, and blood-stained sputum.

Apart from the 90 cases that have been reported in Delhi so far, the swine flu continues to take lives in the country. Around 353 deaths have been reported in 2018, out of the total 4,484 reported cases.
