Gurugram: Tractor kills 9-year-old returning from tuition as mother watched
In a disheartening incident, a nine-year-old boy was allegedly run over by a tractor in Gurugram on Wednesday, just as his mother helplessly watched. Even though more than 48 hours have passed since the incident, the police are yet to make any arrests. An FIR under IPC Section 279 (rash driving), 304A (death by negligence) has been registered at DLF Phase 3 Police Station.
Mother was waiting for kids to return
The incident took place near Nathupur village when the boy, Alekh, was returning from tuition with his elder brother. Their mother Dolly Kumari was waiting in the corner for her kids. At around 5 PM, she saw a speeding tractor losing control and injuring Alekh. The elder one was unhurt. Onlookers helped Kumari take Alekh to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
CCTV footage shows tractor flee after accident
Alekh, a Class 4 student, died due to a head injury, the autopsy report found. Naresh Kumar, assistant sub-inspector, who is the investigating officer in the case, said CCTV footage showed the tractor's driver fled away after hitting the boy. Police said they are yet to identify the accused or trace the tractor's owner but are confident he would be nabbed soon.
Police have initiated process to identify accused
"We have given the registration number to the RTO (Regional Transport Office) to identify the address of the accused. Once we get that, we will take the accused into custody," Kumar said.
