IIT-Delhi witnesses record high placement offers on Day 1
The final placement season at IIT-Delhi is off to a great start as the institute witnessed the highest ever number of offers on the first day. The institute received 419 offers - 244 job offers and 175 pre-placement offers (PPOs) - on Day 1. Placements at IIT-Delhi commenced on December 1, and more than 400 domestic and international organizations are participating this time.
Happy to see robust start to placement season: IIT-D Director
"We are happy to see a robust start to our placement season with record number of placements on the first day," said IIT-Delhi Director, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, adding a large number of IIT-Delhi students are preferring domestic careers over international placements. "Another interesting aspect is also about students choosing careers in core sectors. These trends indeed augur well for the country," he said.
Positive trend in beginning of placement season
Prof. S. Dharmaraja, Head of IIT-Delhi's Office of Career Services (OCS), said, "We are happy about the positive trend in the beginning of placement season and hope to continue... We also observe the steady trend in offers in comparison to the last years."
240 domestic job offers received on first day
Of the 244 placement offers received by IIT-Delhi on the first day, 240 were domestic offers while the remaining were international offers, according to a press release. It also revealed that participating companies have been offering over 600 job profiles across various sectors, including Core, Consulting, Information Technology, Finance, Analytics, and Teaching & Research.
Microsoft provided highest number of placement offers
Among the participating companies, Microsoft made the highest number of placement offers to 30 students at IIT-Delhi, including two international offers, followed by Intel which offered 27 domestic jobs. Other top companies that provided a good number of offers included Qualcomm (16) and Goldman Sachs (12). Meanwhile, Uber USA and Squarepoint Singapore made one international offer each.
