CCTV surveillance mandatory for 2025 CBSE board exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decreed that all schools serving as examination centers for the 2025 Class 10 and 12 board exams must install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems. This move is designed to bolster monitoring and ensure fair, transparent conduct during the exams, thereby preventing any dishonest practices. Approximately 44 lakh students from India and 26 other countries are expected to take these exams at around 8,000 designated school centers.
CBSE's new guidelines exclude schools without CCTV
In a recent directive, the CBSE stated that schools lacking CCTV facilities will not be considered as examination centers. The policy also emphasizes compliance with privacy regulations, mandating that students and staff be informed about the CCTV installations. Furthermore, it stipulates that the recorded footage must remain confidential and only accessible to authorized personnel. The CBSE's new guidelines specify that cameras must cover all examination areas and continuously record in high resolution.
CBSE's detailed guidelines for CCTV surveillance
Each school is required to assign one supervisor for every 10 examination rooms or 240 students, reinforcing the board's commitment to maintaining exam integrity. Additionally, the recorded footage will be retained for two months following the declaration of results. The CBSE is also focused on supporting students' emotional and psychological well-being during exams. The board recently conducted a workshop for 150 principals at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi, offering strategies to help students manage the stress associated with exams.
