What GATE toppers of last few years are doing now
One of the hardest exams in the nation, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE is conducted for admission to postgraduate programs. Cracking the GATE is no small task, even though it is difficult to gain admission to prestigious institutions and PSUs. This is what the GATE finalists from the previous few years are currently doing.
Asif Hasan topped the GATE exam in 2017
Asif Hasan emerged as one of the toppers of GATE-2017 in his very first attempt. He bagged AIR-1 with a score of 992/1000 in the Mechanical Engineering branch. He appeared for GATE while he was in BTech final-year at Mumbai's Sardar Patel College of Engineering. After cracking GATE, he opted for a PSU career and joined Indian Oil Corporation as Officer (Engineering and Projects).
Anupam Samantaray, one of the toppers of GATE 2016
Anupam Samantaray was one of the toppers of the GATE exam conducted in 2016. He bagged AIR-1 in the Electrical Engineering stream. He was in the final-year of BTech (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela when he appeared for GATE. Anupam who bagged offers from several PSUs after cracking GATE joined Powergrid Corporation of India as an Assistant Manager.
Ravi Shankar Mishra topped GATE 2015 in CSE
Ravi Shankar Mishra bagged AIR-1 in GATE-2015 for the Computer Science & Engineering branch. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the 2014-batch from IIT Kanpur. After clearing GATE, he opted to pursue postgraduation at IIT Bombay, where he obtained his Master's Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from in 2017. He later worked with Microsoft and is currently an Applied Scientist at Amazon.
Ankit Goyal, the GATE 2014 topper in Electrical Engineering
Ankit Goyal emerged as the topper of GATE-2014 in Electrical Engineering. Goyal, who completed BTech from IIT-Indore in 2013, was working with Qualcomm when he appeared for GATE. However, instead of opting for postgraduation or a PSU career, he co-founded GATE coaching institute, Kreatryx, in 2014. Notably, he bagged GATE AIR-1 for the second time in 2018; previously, he secured AIR-8 in GATE-2013 too.
Vinod Kumar Datusliya, GATE 2013 topper in Mechanical Engineering
Vinod Kumar Datusliya was one of the toppers of GATE-2013. He secured AIR-1 in the Mechanical Engineering stream. He appeared for GATE after obtaining Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Marine Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2009. He joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru for Master's in Aerospace Engineering after clearing GATE. He's currently a Thermal System Design Engineer at GE Power.
