YouTube launches cheaper Student Plans for YouTube Premium: Details here
In a bid to expand its services in India, YouTube has launched Student Plans for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium services. The new plans, available to students enrolled in recognized colleges and universities across the country, are roughly upto 45% cheaper than the standard subscription plans. Here are the details about these Student Plans.
Student Plans for YouTube services start at Rs. 59/month
The Student Plans for YouTube Music Premium costs Rs. 59 per month as against the standard subscription fee of Rs. 99 per month. Similarly, the YouTube Premium Student Plan is priced at Rs. 79, down from the standard monthly subscription fee of Rs. 129.
What are the benefits of the Student Plans?
YouTube Music comes as a free service but supports advertisements. However, with YouTube Music Premium, you get an ad-free music streaming, background playback, and the option to download content for offline access. On the other hand, YouTube Premium offers the same benefits as above but with access to YouTube Originals. Moreover, with YouTube Premium, you also get free access to YouTube Music Premium.
How to avail Student Plan for these YouTube services?
As mentioned before, Student Plans for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium are available to full-time students enrolled in accredited colleges and universities in India. To avail the plans, you'll have to provide necessary details, the eligibility of which will be verified by SheerID. Notably, if you have an existing YouTube Music/Premium subscription, you will have to cancel it to subscribe to Student Plans.
Spotify and Apple Music also offer student plans
Spotify and Apple Music also offer premium membership to students at discounted prices. Spotify's student plan costs Rs. 59 per month whereas Apple Music Premium for students is priced at Rs. 60 per month.
