Xiaomi Redmi 6A goes on sale today via Amazon, Mi.com
Xiaomi's recently launched budget offering, the Redmi 6A, went on sale in India today via Amazon and Mi.com, starting 12pm. The key highlights of the phone are its HD+ 18:9 display, AI-powered face unlock, dual VoLTE, and 13MP rear camera. In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi Redmi 6A starts at Rs. 5,999. Here's more.
Pricing and Launch offers
The Redmi 6A costs Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant while the 2GB RAM/32GB storage model is priced at Rs. 6,999. Notably, these are introductory prices applicable for two months and may be revised if the rupee continues to decrease against the dollar. Further, Reliance Jio customers will get Rs. 2,200 cashback (in form of discount vouchers) and 100GB of additional data.
Redmi 6A: At a glance
Up front, the phone has a traditional looking 5.45-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) display with chunkier top and bottom bezels giving it an 18:9 aspect ratio. On the back, it has a horizontally-positioned single rear camera with an LED flash module and speaker grille. Notably, Redmi 6A lacks a fingerprint sensor and relies on face scanning or password/pattern for secure unlocking of the device.

On the back, Redmi 6A has a 13MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and supports HDR. The primary camera also gets nifty features such as low light photo enhancement, burst mode, and scene selection. Up front, the phone gets a 5MP camera and comes with features such as Portrait mode, Beautify, HDR, Selfie timer, Age recognition and Face unlock.

The Redmi 6A is powered by MediaTek Helio A22 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB). It runs Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 and packs 3,000mAh battery. The phone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard Redmi 6A include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, and proximity sensor.
