Wipro's leadership exodus continues as CTO Subha Tatavarti resigns
Subha Tatavarti, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Wipro, has tendered her resignation effective from August 16. The company disclosed this development in an exchange filing. Tatavarti's decision to step down was driven by her desire "to pursue opportunities outside Wipro." She joined the firm in March 2021 and operated out of San Francisco Bay Area. Tatavarti's departure is the latest in a series of high-profile exits from the company.
Wipro's leadership team sees multiple resignations
Earlier this year, on May 17, Chief Operating Officer Amit Choudhary also resigned to explore opportunities outside the company. Just a week prior to that, Anis Chenchah, President of Wipro's Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) division stepped down. These resignations have led to significant changes in the company's leadership team.
Sanjeev Jain steps in as new COO
Following Choudhary's departure, Wipro appointed Sanjeev Jain as the new COO. Jain, who joined the IT firm in 2023 as the global head of business operations, brings over three decades of experience leading large teams and scaling up global operations. His responsibilities at Wipro now include leading the talent supply chain and overseeing various other functions.
Ex-CEO and others share Capgemini connection
Interestingly, Choudhary, Chenchah, and former CEO Thierry Delaporte all have a shared history of working at France-headquartered Capgemini before joining Wipro. Delaporte's resignation on April 6 was followed by these high-profile exits. This connection highlights a significant pattern in the recent leadership changes at the company.
CFO Jatin Dalal's exit led to non-compete lawsuit
In 2023, Wipro's Chief Financial Officer Jatin Dalal left the company to join Cognizant. This move sparked a non-compete lawsuit filed by Wipro against Dalal. The dispute was resolved on July 9 with Cognizant compensating $505,087 to Dalal. This legal battle marked another significant event in the series of high-profile departures from Wipro.
Wipro lost over 10 senior leaders in 2023
In total, Wipro lost over 10 of its senior leaders in 2023, including Chief Growth Officer Stephanie Trautman. These departures have raised concerns among analysts about Wipro's declining revenues and market share in recent years. The appointment of company veteran Srini Pallia as the new CEO following Delaporte's resignation, was seen as a significant step to turnaround its business growth.
