Trump Effect? Wipro says 50% workforce in US are locals

Software giant Wipro announced that over 50% of the company's employees in the United States are locals.
Wipro has more than 14,000 employees working across different offices in the United States, which include both lateral hires and freshers from universities.
The company also stated that it was looking to expand its existing facilities in Tampa and Dallas.

With plans of expansion in the United States, the company is looking to hire talent from colleges situated close to its existing centres in the country.
The company recruits technical talent from colleges like The University of Texas at Austin, University of Houston and Rice University.
Management graduates from schools like Harvard Business School and the Wharton School are also sought after.

The announcement from Wipro comes in the wake of developments issued by the United States government, where H-1B visa holders will see their salaries double to $130,000 annually.
This move has prompted software exporters to change their hiring strategy.
Last month, Infosys had also announced that it would hire 10,000 US workers over the next two years.
