Wells Fargo worker dies at desk, goes unnoticed for days
A tragic incident has unfolded at a Wells Fargo office in Tempe, Arizona, where an employee was found dead at her desk after four days. Denise Prudhomme (60) had last clocked into work at 7:00am (local time) on August 16 and was discovered deceased four days later on August 20 evening. The delay in discovering her body was partially due to the weekend when fewer employees were present. The exact cause of her demise is yet to be determined.
Colleagues noticed unusual odor before discovering body
Prudhomme's colleagues reportedly noticed an unusual odor in the office on Monday but dismissed it as a plumbing issue. An employee, speaking anonymously to KPNX, said a colleague found her at her desk while walking through the building. Her workstation was located on the third floor, away from high-traffic areas used by employees to move between departments. This, coupled with the fact that many Wells Fargo employees at this location work remotely, contributed to the delay in finding her body.
No signs of foul play in Prudhomme's death
The Maricopa County medical examiner is determining the cause of death. Police indicates the preliminary investigation revealed no obvious signs of foul play. In response to the incident, Wells Fargo said "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, Denise Prudhomme. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones, and we are in contact to ensure they are well supported during this difficult time." The company pledges to review internal procedures to ensure regular employee welfare checks.
