Vodafone begins its 4G VoLTE roll-out in India
Following an announcement last month, Vodafone has started rolling out its 4G VoLTE service in the country as promised. The first phase of the roll-out will cover the locations of Delhi, Karnataka, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Gujarat, which is where the service has foremost debuted. The subscribers are being notified of the same via text message. Here is more on it.
Subscribers can enjoy the new service at no added cost
To avail the service, subscribers simply need to have a smartphone supporting VoLTE and a 4G-enabled SIM. They can upgrade their existing SIM to 4G without changing phone numbers by submitting a passport-sized photo and a photo ID proof in any of the Vodafone service centers. The service will be accessible at no additional cost.

Confirming the roll-out, company CEO Sunil Sood said, "The introduction of VoLTE will enhance customer experience with HD quality calling and offer our customers newer possibilities. Vodafone VoLTE is an important step towards introducing futuristic technology enhancing our data strong network."
VoLTE allows faster and better transmission of voice data
VoLTE or Voice over Long-Term Evolution is a service that enables transmission of voice data over the 4G/LTE network instead of the slower 2G/3G connections. According to the company, Vodafone SuperNet 4G subscribers can now experience voice calls in HD quality and faster call connect time due to VoLTE support.
Vodafone third major telecom operator to offer VoLTE
Vodafone has become the third major telecom operator offering VoLTE services in the country after Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. Reliance Jio first rolled out the service during its debut in September 2016. To keep up with the competition, Airtel launched its 4G VoLTE service a year later in September 2017 starting with Mumbai.
