The country's largest telecom company, Vodafone India, is set to partner with Mega, Meru and Easy Cabs to help users switch to avail its 4G services. In an attempt to shift more customers to use its 4G services, the company has provided nearly 500 cabs with 4G SIM dispensers, which the riders can use to switch their 3G cards into 4G free of cost.
Why has Vodafone launched this service?
"Since the launch of 4G services in Delhi last year, we have witnessed a tremendous shift in usage to 4G data from 2G & 3G data. To experience this world-class 4G network, it's essential that our consumers upgrade their 3G SIMs to 4G SIMs,"- Vodafone
How can customers avail this new service?
The telecom company said that the service has been introduced only in the Delhi-NCR region. The company has placed both prepaid and postpaid SIM dispensers in the cabs with instructions on how users may upgrade their current Vodafone 3G SIM to a 4G SIM. There is a SIM kit that the users can use which will provide the steps about the process.
Vodafone's attempts at countering Jio?
With the recent rise in telecom competition due to the flurry of offers from Reliance Jio, Vodafone India upped its game by recently allowing its users unlimited internet access at less than Rs. 6 per hour. The new move will bag the company more revenue.
