V Nageswaran's term as Chief Economic Adviser extended until 2027

The Indian government has announced a two-year extension for the tenure of Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran. His term will now continue till March 2027.
The decision comes after Nageswaran's significant contribution to the annual economic survey in January, projecting India's GDP growth at 6.3%-6.8% for the next fiscal year starting April 1.

Nageswaran's journey as CEA and academic achievements
Nageswaran first took over as CEA in January 2022.
Before joining the government, he had an illustrious academic career, teaching at several business schools and management institutes in India and Singapore.
He also served as the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and was a prominent Visiting Professor of Economics at Krea University.

Nageswaran's previous roles in economic advisory councils
From 2019 to 2021, Nageswaran served as a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.
He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
