    TCS among top 10 firms to get certifications for H-1B

    What's the story

    According to data from the US Department of Labor, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the only Indian company among the top 10 companies to have been awarded foreign labor certifications for H-1B visas for the fiscal year 2018.

    For those unaware, foreign labor certifications are the first step to applying for the highly sought H-1B visas.

    Here are the details.

    The top 10 companies in terms of foreign labor certifications

    The top 10 companies to have been awarded foreign labor certifications was headed by London-based Ernst & Young (151,164 certifications), followed by Deloitte Consulting (69,869 certifications), and Cognizant (47,732 certifications).

    HCL America (42,820 certifications), K Force Inc (32,996 certifications), Apple (26,833 certifications), TCS (20,755 certifications), Qualcomm (20,723 certifications), Mphasis Corporation (16,671 certifications), and Capgemini America (13,517 certifications) made up the rest of the top 10, respectively.

    Positions

    The positions for which the most certifications were awarded

    For the fiscal year 2018, ended September 30, the US Department of Labour received applications for 1,266,614 positions of which 1,223,053 were certified.

    Among certified positions, software developers and applications accounted for 285,963 certifications, followed by computer systems analyst (176,025), computer occupations (120,736), software developers, system software (67,262), accountants and auditors (54,2410) and computer programmers (53,727).

    State-wise distribution of foreign labor certifications

    In terms of state-wise distribution, California topped with 309,205 certifications, followed by Texas (115,484), New York (95,722), New Jersey (65,232), Illinois (56,196), Washington (52,522) and Pennsylvania (51,471).
