UBER eats launches in Kolkata
UBER eats, the food delivery arm of ride-hailing giant Uber, has launched in Kolkata. The company has partnered with 250 restaurants in the city from where users will be able to order food via the "UBER eats" mobile app. This is India's 11th city that UBER eats has forayed into after Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, and Jaipur.
Order food via app, track its progress in real-time
Just like other food delivery services, users can browse restaurants and place their orders on the app itself. They will get updates regarding the order and will be able to track its progress in real-time. Customers can either pay through Paytm or Cash On Delivery, and later rate the food on the app. You can also filter your food choices and get personalized recommendations.
UBER eats has partnered with 12,000 Indian restaurants
In India, UBER eats launched in May 2017. So far, it has partnered with 12,000 restaurants across the country and is planning to triple that reach by year-end. Globally, UBER eats started in 2014 in Los Angeles and is now available in over 200 cities.
Special features
UBER eats allows scheduling of meals. "If you want to have your dinner at 10, you can schedule it an hour or even a week ahead," Bhavik Rathod, UBER eats India's head, said. The service also offers customized drop-offs within a certain radius. "Say you are in a park and you want your meal delivered at your home, it will reach there," he added.
UBER eats offers Kolkata a variety of options
"With Kolkatans' favorite eating joints- restaurants, sweet shops, confectionery outlets, fast food joints, coffee shops- on board, we promise customers quick and reliable delivery so that they can enjoy their favorite food from the comfort of their homes," Rathod said.
