Tuhin Kanta Pandey appointed as India's new Finance Secretary
Tuhin Kanta Pandey has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary of India. The announcement was made by the government on Saturday, confirming that Pandey will succeed T. V. Somanathan in this role. Prior to his new appointment, Pandey served as the Secretary for the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM).
Appointment approved by cabinet committee
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has officially approved Pandey's new role as Finance Secretary. This decision comes following Somanathan's elevation to the position of Cabinet Secretary. Pandey, a 1987 batch IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, has been leading DIPAM since October 2019 and is known for his significant contributions during his tenure there.

During his tenure at DIPAM, Pandey played a pivotal role in the sale of Air India and the listing of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC). His leadership and strategic decisions have been instrumental in these significant public asset management initiatives. Now, as the new Finance Secretary, he is expected to bring his extensive experience and expertise to guide India's financial policies and strategies.
