TRAI launches 3 apps for transparency between customers and operators
The telecom sector is currently in the middle of an upheaval as with the entry of Reliance Jio, all telcos are now trying to beat one another. TRAI has, therefore, launched three new apps and a web portal to ensure that the Indian users are fully aware of the telecom services that are being offered to them. Here's all that you need to know.
Mycall app, MySpeed app and 'Do not disturb (DND 2.0)
Mycall app, MySpeed app and 'Do not disturb (DND 2.0)' app are now going to educate and ensure that there is transparency - between what consumers are actually paying for and what telecom operators are promising to provide at a certain rate. All these apps, available on Google Play store, also reflect on the digital leap taken by TRAI to tackle hiccups.
Call quality provided by the operators
Mycall app will enable users to rate the experience of the voice call quality that they are receiving from their respective service providers and also provide details regarding the audio delay or noise in the call they were on. This initiative also enables TRAI to gather customer experience data and take necessary steps based on them in future.
Collated data on service coverage
The updated version of MySpeed app enables TRAI to get test data without having the users to take any added measure in any service area. This collated data will be made available for purview. "These tests would be brief, very infrequent for a specific device, free to the user and anonymous. The user may also do a test and submit the results, as before."
Finally a proper DND route
The DND service app will provide users with the much-needed respite from unsolicited communication via messages or calls from all commercial channels, all the user needs to do is register himself under DND and that's it. TRAI's updated website will now provide services like a free subscription of TRAI releases, and opportunities for registered users to participate in its 'Open House Discussion'.
