What's the story

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has started working on what is being reported as the world's "most affordable electric SUV" through the Mahindra Electric unit, which was known earlier as Mahindra Reva. The SUV with an electric power train is codenamed 'S107' according to media reports. The electric compact SUV is Mahindra's next major project after the electric version of its Verito.

Idea

Combining the strengths of SUV and Reva

The idea of Mahindra & Mahindra is to combine the strength of its SUV expertise with that of Reva to make electric cars. The company that sells the entry-level E2O electric vehicle has showcased the Halo sportscar concept recently. Mahindra & Mahindra's Chief Executive for Automotive Pravin Shah has reportedly stated they were also considering electrification of the company's KUV model.
