TCS boosts recruitment, hires over 10,000 new engineering graduates
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's leading IT services firm, has recruited over 10,000 fresh graduates from top-tier engineering institutions. This significant increase in hiring comes as the company prepares for an expected rise in demand in the upcoming financial year. Last month, TCS initiated its fresher recruitment via the National Qualifier Test (NQT), a platform developed by TCS iON to assess candidates' cognitive abilities and skill expertise.
Details of TCS's recruitment drive
The application deadline for TCS's recruitment drive was March 10, with tests scheduled for March 26. The first phase of recruitment targeted "priority colleges," while the second phase was aimed at the remaining institutions. Despite comparisons between the NQT and campus placement processes by placement officers, TCS has refrained from commenting on its recruitment drive, citing a silent period.
TCS offers three pay categories for new recruits
TCS is hiring new graduates under three categories: Ninja, Digital, and Prime. The Ninja category offers an annual package of ₹3.36 lakh for various roles. The Digital and Prime grant packages of ₹7 lakh and ₹9-11.5 lakh, respectively. It has been confirmed that recruits selected for the Digital and Prime profiles are being placed in development roles, while those in the Ninja profile will be assigned support roles.
Universities express optimism over recruitment drive
V Samuel Rajkumar, Director of Career Development Centre at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), expressed optimism about students from all colleges securing placements with TCS. He revealed that VIT students received 963 offer letters, including 103 for the Prime category. S Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor of SASTRA University, reported that their students received over 2,000 offer letters from various companies. Venkata Narasimhadevara, of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, highlighted TCS's recruitment efforts as the big news of the season.
TCS's three-tiered package approach welcomed
TCS's three-tiered package approach is a change from traditional entry-level position offerings, aimed at attracting better talent. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, praised this as a verywelcoming and positive move. Placement officers also mentioned that TCS is using its iON centers across India to conduct tests instead of college campuses, marking another innovative step in the company's recruitment process.
