Tata Sky's Room TV service: A better-version of Multi-TV scheme
Tata Sky has replaced its Multi-TV scheme with a new Room TV service which promises to be a better and cheaper option for subscribers with multiple DTH connections. Unlike the Multi-TV scheme, the new plan offers more freedom to users by allowing them to curate packs of their choice and pay only for those channels. Here is all about it.
Here's how Room TV service is different from Multi-TV scheme
Under Room TV service, Tata Sky allows you to select the channels of your choice on the secondary connection. Let us say, if you want a DTH connection for your kid's room, you can just subscribe to cartoon and infotainment channels. In comparison, the Multi-TV scheme didn't allow you to curate content and offered all the channels that were subscribed on the primary connection.
Naturally, Room TV service is also cheaper
The freedom to select the channels means that you will be spending less on your secondary connection than before. Notably, previously, you were forced to view the channels of the primary connection and pay the same premium price.
Two connections, one base pack
As part of the Room TV service scheme, "the secondary connections can now have different channels and services from the base pack selected for the first connection in the house under the same subscriber ID," according to Tata Sky. However, it needs to be seen how the company will charge Network Capacity Fee (NCF) on the secondary connection.
Tata Sky Room TV service is now live
According to a Telecom Talk report, Tata Sky Room TV service is now live for all subscribers. Notably, the company has scrapped its Multi-TV plan and all existing users can migrate to Room TV service via the company's official website or mobile app.
