Tata cars to become expensive by up to Rs. 25,000
Owing to "changing market conditions, rising input costs, and other external economic conditions", Tata Motors has announced to increase prices of its cars by up to Rs. 25,000. According to the automaker, the revised prices will come into effect from April 2019. Notably, this is the second time in 2019 that Tata Motors has increased prices of its passenger vehicles. Here's everything to know.
Multiple factors compel Tata Motors to introduce price hike
"The changing market conditions, rising input costs, and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider this price increase," said Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors. "We are confident of maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming months on the back of our robust portfolio consisting of segment-leading products like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor, Nexon, and the Harrier," he added.
All Tata cars expected to see a price hike
While Tata Motors has confirmed the price hike, it hasn't shared if all or some of the passenger vehicles will receive newer price tags. And while we expect an official announcement in the coming days, it is likely that the prices of all the cars will go up. The list includes models like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor, Nexon, Harrier, Bolt, Zest, Safari Storme and Sumo.
In January, the company hiked car prices by Rs. 40,000
Last year in December, Tata Motors announced a price hike of up to Rs. 40,000 on all of its passenger vehicles. At the time, Mayank Pareek said that "changing market conditions, rising input costs, and various external economic factors" affected the price increase. Notably, this price hike came into effect from January 1, 2019.
