Tata Electronics will make display semiconductors in this Indian state
What's the story
Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, has announced plans to establish a display manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
The company will be partnering with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) and Himax Technologies for the same.
The facility will be set up in Dholera and is expected to manufacture display chips. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Gujarat government for the plant's development.

Tata Electronics CEO, Randhir Thakur, announced the signing of a tripartite agreement with PSMC and Himax Technologies at the IESA Vision Summit.
The MoU seeks to transform India's display product and technology ecosystem.
Under this agreement, Tata Electronics will utilize PSMC's advanced technology to manufacture display chips for Himax in Dholera.
This partnership is a major step forward in India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

Tata Electronics' investment in semiconductor manufacturing
Along with the display manufacturing unit, Tata Electronics is also working to set up a semiconductor fabrication plant in Gujarat.
The project entails an investment of around ₹91,000 crore with PSMC as its technology partner.
PSMC is the world's seventh-largest pure-play foundry and has four 12-inch and two 8-inch fabs in Taiwan.
The company boasts of a production capacity of over 2.1 million 12-inch equivalent wafers per year.
