Swiggy launches its own UPI payment service for faster transactions
Swiggy, a leading online food and grocery delivery platform, has launched its own Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment service called 'Swiggy UPI.' This integrated payment solution is designed to improve the in-app payment experience for customers. The new feature is powered by the National Payments Corporation of India's (NPCI) UPI Plug-in solution and Juspay's HyperUPI Plugin. It allows users to complete UPI transactions directly within the Swiggy app, streamlining the payment process.
Swiggy UPI reduces payment process from 5 steps to 1
The integration of Swiggy UPI has significantly simplified the payment process, reducing it from five steps to just one. This eliminates the need for users to be redirected to third-party UPI apps. The company claims that this enhancement is likely to cut transaction time from over 15 seconds to just five seconds, offering a faster and more efficient user experience.
Swiggy's UPI feature tested before launch
Prior to its official launch, Swiggy had been testing the UPI feature with its employees, according to a report by Moneycontrol in July. The company plans to gradually roll out this feature to all users in phases soon. This development comes over a year after Zomato, another food and grocery delivery company, launched its own UPI service - Zomato UPI - in partnership with ICICI Bank.
Swiggy's mission to provide unparalleled convenience
Anurag Panganamamula, Swiggy's Head of Revenue and Growth, expressed his excitement about the launch of their new UPI feature. He stated, "We are excited to introduce our UPI experience to our customers. This feature aligns with Swiggy's mission to enable unparalleled convenience to consumers as UPI emerges as one of the most preferred payment methods."
