Zara parent Inditex introduces Bershka in India, opens 1st store

Spanish fashion giant Inditex Group has launched its third fast-fashion brand Bershka in India.
The first store has opened at Mumbai's Phoenix Palladium mall. The launch also marks the brand's online debut in the Indian market.
Bershka is part of Inditex's global portfolio which includes popular brands like Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Stradivarius, Oysho, and Zara Home.

Targeting younger demographic with affordable fashion
Bershka sits at a lower price point than Zara, targeting a younger audience.
The brand's entry into India is part of Inditex's direct approach, without local partnerships.
Earlier, Inditex had partnered with Tata Group's Trent Ltd for the distribution of Zara and Massimo Dutti in India.
With Bershka's addition, Inditex now operates 26 stores across the country.
Product range
India collection includes clothing for all
Bershka's collection for the Indian market features clothing for men, women, and teenagers.
These products are available both in physical stores and online.
The brand's BSK Teen line is targeted at 10- to 12-year-olds who are heavily immersed in digital culture and inspired by social media trends, music, and youth-oriented pop culture.

India's lifestyle market, encompassing apparel, beauty, accessories and footwear, is projected to touch a whopping $210 billion by 2028 according to a report by Bain & Co. and Myntra.
This projection has lured global fashion brands like Gap, Shein, H&M and Uniqlo to grow their footprint in India over the last decade.
In fiscal 2024 alone, Zara India posted sales of ₹2,774.64 crore while Massimo Dutti India posted a total income of ₹101.79 crore.
