Soon, you could have a soft, breathable raincoat: Here's how
If you've ever worn a raincoat (which I think you have), you know how uncomfortable that thing is. It's heavy (gets even heavier with water), crunchy, not easy to pack, and most importantly, unbreathable. Hardly any air passes through waterproof jackets of today. However, the good news is, a company has come up with a solution, and it's pretty tempting. Here's all about t.
The North Face's 'Futurelight' jackets
American recreation product company The North Face has created, what it claims to be, the most breathable jacket ever produced. The garment, dubbed Futurelight, has been designed with a unique 'nanospinning' technology that lets more air to pass through the fabric, offering more venting than any other modern-day raincoat or waterproof jacket. So, it will be far more comfortable than you could imagine.
Plus, they are incredibly light to wear
Futurelight jackets look just like the normal ones but are fairly lighter. According to the folks at Engadget, who tried on these products, the jackets are soft and as light as a windcheater. They tried the 'Flight' series of the jacket, which has been designed for hiking or running, but if you need something slightly heavier, there's also the Steep and Summit series.
All Futurelight products will be environment friendly
Along with comfort and ventilation, The North Face's Futurelight jackets also promise environment friendliness. Essentially, the company has said that all of its products will be manufactured from recycled materials at a solar-powered plant. In addition to this, they will follow a process that will cut the consumption of chemicals that are harmful for the environment.
How much you'd have to pay for these jackets?
Futurelight jackets are comfortable and tempting but they won't come cheap, at least not by Indian market standards. Specifically, the 'Flight' series of the collection starts at $280, which is about Rs. 20,000 in India. The price increases according to the design and collection you will choose. Also, in the future, the company will use the same fabric in products like gloves, tents, too.
