Sensex slips to 59,034.95 points, Nifty settles below 17,650 points
The benchmark Sensex and NIFTY indices on Thursday witnessed a slump, extending the losing streak for the third day. While the Sensex slipped 575.46 points, or 0.97%, to 59,034.95 points, the Nifty shed 178.5 points, or 1.01%, to 17,629.15 points. Meanwhile, the midcap indices were trading in the red as the Nifty Midcap 50 plunged 34.85 points, or 0.41%, to 8,529.1 points.
Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Thursday?
Among the winning sectors in the stock market on Wednesday were NIFTY REALTY and NIFTY PHARMA, which rose 0.43% and 0.38%, respectively. Furthermore, Axis Bank, Divis Labs, and HUL emerged as the top-performing stocks, edging up 2.38%, 1.4%, and 1.06%, respectively. Adani Ports, Titan Company, and HDFC emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 3.82%, 3.22%, and 2.89%, respectively.

Among the Asian markets, the Hang Seng Index on Thursday shed 271.54 points to 21,808.98 points while the Nikkei gained 461.73 points to 26,888.57 points. Meanwhile, in the US market, NASDAQ ended in the red, falling 315.35 points, or 2.22%, to 13,888.82 points.
INR slips 0.27% against the US Dollar
On Thursday, the Indian rupee (INR) declined 0.27% against the US Dollar to end at Rs. 75.96 in the forex trade. On the other hand, the prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a surge. While the former soared 0.31% to Rs. 51,755, the latter jumped 0.34% to Rs. 66,531. The crude oil futures were trading flat to settle at $97.55 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain the same
Fuel prices in Delhi remain the same on Thursday with the diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol at Rs. 105.45/liter. Fuel prices in Mumbai also remained unchanged with diesel at Rs. 104.75/liter and petrol at Rs. 120.5/liter.
