Sensex falls 185 points; Nifty settles below 16,550
The stock market closed on a flat note on Wednesday with the Sensex settling at 55,381.17 points and Nifty ending at 16,522.75 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Wednesday?
Among the top sector gainers in the stock market were NIFTY PSU BANK, NIFTY PSE, and NIFTY BANK, gaining 0.69%, 0.41%, and 0.37%, respectively. Meanwhile, the top stock gainers were JSW Steel, Coal India, and M&M, which climbed 3.75%, 2.02%, and 1.4%, respectively. Bajaj Auto, Apollo Hospital, and Tech Mahindra were among the top stock losers on Wednesday, shedding 3.73%, 3.25%, and 2.81%, respectively.

The Asian markets witnessed a poor run on Wednesday. The Shanghai Composite Index slipped to 3,182.16 points, the Hang Seng Index plunged to 21,294.94 points, and the Nikkei dropped to 27,457.89 points. In the US, NASDAQ witnessed a fall, dropping 49.74 points to 12,081.39 points.
INR climbs 0.14% against the US Dollar
The Indian rupee (INR) appreciated by 0.14% to close at Rs. 77.53 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Wednesday. The gold and silver futures prices finished in red. While the gold futures dropped to Rs. 50,462, silver futures tumbled to settle at Rs. 60,678. Coming to the crude oil futures, the prices increased 0.29% to settle at $116.75/barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Wednesday with the diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. In Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
