Sensex slips over 300 points, Nifty barely holds 16,000 mark
On Wednesday, the benchmark Sensex and Nifty indices witnessed a fall, continuing their losing streak for the third day. The Sensex plunged 0.56% to 53,749.26 points, while the Nifty fell 0.62% to 16,025.8 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Wednesday?
Among the winning sectors on Wednesday were NIFTY FIN SERVICE, NIFTY PVT BANK, and NIFTY BANK, which rose 0.68%, 0.27%, and 0.14%, respectively. Meanwhile, NTPC, HDFC Life, and SBI Life Insurance emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 3.95%, 2.89%, and 2.11%, respectively. Asian Paints, Adani Ports, and Divis Labs emerged as the most losing stocks, falling 8.06%, 5.59%, and 4.12%, respectively.

Coming to the Asian markets, Shanghai Composite Index, Hang Seng Index, and the Nikkei plunged 1.19%, 0.29%, and 0.26% to 3,107.46 points, 20,171.27 points, and 26,677.8 points, respectively. In the US, NASDAQ ended in the red, falling 270.82 points, or 2.35%, to 11,264.45 points.
INR climbs 0.07% against the US Dollar
On Wednesday, the Indian rupee (INR) edged up 0.07% to Rs. 77.53 versus the US dollar. The prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a decline, with the former slipping 0.35% and the latter shedding 0.7% to settle at Rs. 50,977 and Rs. 61,545, respectively. Meanwhile, the crude oil future prices surged by $1.73, or 1.57% to $111.52/barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged
The fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Wednesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
