The stock market on Friday has closed on a bullish note. While the Sensex gained 1,534.16 points to settle at 54,326.39 points, the Nifty climbed 456.75 points, closing at 16,266.15 points. The midcap indices also showed positive signals with the Nifty Midcap 50 gaining 168.85 points, or 2.22%, to close at 7,591.6 points. Here's all you need to know about Friday's market report.

Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Friday?

As far as the top-performing sectors of the market are concerned, Nifty MEDIA, NIFTY REALTY, and NIFTY METAL led the way, gaining 4.28%, 4.04%, and 4.03%, respectively. Meanwhile, Dr Reddys Labs, Reliance, and JSW Steel emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 8.13%, 5.83%, and 5.15%, respectively. Among the biggest stock losers were Shree Cements and UPL, which plunged 0.97% and 0.71%, respectively.

In Asia, the Shanghai Composite Index plummeted 1.6% to 3,146.57 points, while the Nikkei too plunged 1.27% to 26,739.03 points on Friday. However, the Hang Seng Index climbed 2.96% to 20,717.24 points. In the US, NASDAQ witnessed a decline, shedding 0.26% to 11,388.5 points.

INR appreciated by 0.23% against the US Dollar

The Indian rupee (INR) appreciated by 0.23% to close at Rs. 77.55 against the US dollar on Friday. On the other hand, the prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a surge. While the former soared 0.36% to Rs. 50,725, the latter jumped 0.62% to Rs. 61,948. The crude oil futures edged up by $0.63 or 0.58% to $109.77/barrel.

Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain unchanged

The fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Friday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol costing Rs. 105.45/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
