Sensex climbs to 54,318.47 points, Nifty ends above 16,250 points
The stock market on Tuesday closed in the hands of bull as the Sensex rose 2.48% to 54,318.47 points while the Nifty climbed 2.56% to 16,259.3 points. Meanwhile, the midcap indices reflected the broader market trend, showing a bullish stance as the Nifty Midcap 50 gained 2.52% to close at 7,662.15 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Tuesday?
As far as the top sector gainers are concerned, Nifty METAL, NIFTY COMMODITIES, and NIFTY PSE topped the list, edging up 6.42%, 3.87%, and 3.16%, respectively. Hindalco, Tata Steel, and Coal India emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 9.58%, 7.72%, and 7.48%, respectively. Coming to the top losing stocks of Tuesday, TATA Consumer Products emerged as the biggest stock loser after dropping 0.17%.

In Asia, the Shanghai Composite Index plummeted 0.65% to 3,093.7 points, while the Nikkei too plunged 0.42% to 26,659.75 points on Tuesday. However, the Hang Seng Index climbed 3.27% to 20,602.52 points. In the US, NASDAQ dropped 142.21 points, or 1.2%, to 11,662.79 points.
Crude oil prices up by 0.35%
On Tuesday, the Indian rupee (INR) edged 0.15% lower to Rs. 77.56 versus the US Dollar. The gold and silver futures prices traded in the green. While the gold futures gained Rs. 167, or 0.33%, to settle at Rs. 50,415, silver futures shot up by 0.8% to Rs. 61,413. Coming to the crude oil futures, the prices soared 0.35% to settle at $114.8/barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai on Tuesday
The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Tuesday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol costing Rs. 105.45/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
