Sensex crashes over 1,150 points, Nifty barely holds 15,800 mark
The stock market on Thursday continued the losing streak for the fifth day in a row as the Sensex slid 1,158.08 points to 52,930.31 points while the Nifty shed 359.1 points to 15,808 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers Thursday?
The Wipro stock has risen by 0.4%, emerging as the top gaining stock of the market on Thursday. Coming to the major losing sectors, NIFTY PSU BANK, NIFTY METAL, and NIFTY PVT BANK emerged as the biggest losers, plunging 5.69%, 3.84%, and 3.63%, respectively. Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, and Tata Steel lead the negative pack, plummeting 6.13%, 5.79%, and 4.12%, respectively.

Moving on to the Asian markets, the Shanghai Composite Index, the Hang Seng Index, and the Nikkei plunged 0.12%, 2.24%, and 1.77% to 3,054.99 points, 19,380.34 points, and 25,748.72 points, respectively. In the US, NASDAQ witnessed a steep decline, edging 3.18% lower to 11,364.24 points.
INR slips by 0.23% against the US Dollar
On Thursday, the Indian rupee (INR) declined 0.23% against the US Dollar to end at Rs. 77.42 in the forex trade. The prices of both gold and silver futures witnessed a decline, with the former slipping 0.26% and the latter shedding 1.11% to settle at Rs. 50,688 and Rs. 60,080, respectively. On the other hand, the crude oil futures slipped 1.41% to $103.85/barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai on Thursday
The fuel prices in Delhi remained unchanged on Thursday, with diesel priced at Rs. 96.71/liter and petrol costing Rs. 105.45 /liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 104.75/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 120.5/liter.
