Sensex closes at 57,595.68 points, Nifty settles below 17,250 points
The stock market closed on a flat note on Thursday with the Sensex settling at 57,595.68 points and Nifty ending flat at 17,222.75 points. The broader market largely traded flat but the midcap stocks were in a bullish mode as the Nifty Midcap 50 gained 60.35 points to close at 8,087.9 points. Who were the biggest gainers and losers on Thursday?
The top sector gainers were NIFTY MEDIA, NIFTY METAL, and NIFTY IT, gaining 5.58%, 1.51%, and 1.19%, respectively. Meanwhile, Dr Reddys Labs, Hindalco, and Coal India emerged as the biggest stock gainers, adding 4.75%, 2.37%, and 2.35%, respectively. As far as the top stock losers are concerned, Kotak Mahindra, Titan Company and HDFC Bank lead the negative pack, shedding 3.18%, 2.63% and 2.45%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Asian markets witnessed a poor run on Thursday. While the Shanghai Composite Index slipped to 3,250.26 points, the Hang Seng Index plunged to 21,945.95 points, and the Nikkei dropped to 28,110.39 points.
INR slips 0.07% against the US Dollar
On Thursday, the Indian rupee (INR) declined 0.07% against the US Dollar to end at Rs. 76.35. Meanwhile, not much movement was witnessed in the gold and silver futures prices as they were trading flat. The gold price settled at Rs. 51,820, while the price for silver stood at Rs. 68,330. Meanwhile, the crude oil future prices surged by $0.3 to $114.66 per barrel.
Fuel prices in Delhi and Mumbai remain the same
The fuel prices in Delhi remain the same as yesterday with diesel priced at Rs. 88.31/liter and petrol priced at Rs. 97.05/liter. In Mumbai, fuel prices remained unchanged with diesel at Rs. 95.83/liter and petrol at Rs. 111.65/liter.
